After graduating from Herron School of Art and Design in 2005 with a Furniture Design degree, I was at a loss for the space or capital to have a fully functioning wood shop.  But the need to create was very much blooming, so I would create paintings, drawings, or anything that would satisfy the need to make something.  At one point, I remembered a project I made in high school using picture matting and an e-xacto knife.  I decided to create a portrait of my dog by creating a relief into the mat.  Because it was a success, I began featuring my dogs into my artwork.  Years later, I created my first color pencil dog portrait and was ecstatic about the results and since have been trying to learn all that I can about color pencil and all its versatile uses.
